We are proud to be supporting OzHarvest once again, donating approximately $9,500 as part of our ongoing commitment to this wonderful charity.
Tribel CEO, Jayson Walker and General Manager, Khai Phan presented OzHarvest’s founder Ronni Kahn with a cheque earlier this month. The funds donated by Tribel translate to over 20,000 meals for Australians in need.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, saving surplus food from ending up in landfill and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need.
Through a number of initiatives, OzHarvest are committed to fighting food waste, they do this via their food rescue, education programs and substantiality work.
This year has been particularly challenging for OzHarvest, however, OzHarvest ran a number of initiatives across Australia, including;
- Rescuing over 8.5 million kg of food rescued in the past twelve months, delivered to charities via their yellow vans.
- A new food app was launched which facilitates food rescue between regional food donors and local charities that the vans can’t reach – delivered 461,633 meals.
- Five pop-up hamper hubs were opened to reach out to the cohort of people who had never experienced food insecurity before.
In addition to this, OzHarvest have teamed up with 37 incredible hospitality heroes and cooked up 680,089 meals. These prepared meals were delivered out each week via OzHarvest’s existing network of 1,500 agencies across Australia.
In total that’s over 30 million meals delivered to a list of over 1,500 charities, including 321 agencies who were previously on our waitlist.
We look forward to continuing our support and helping OzHarvest make a positive impact on the lives of so many doing it tough across Australia.
